Why Permit.io?

Every application needs an authorization layer. You don't need to build it from scratch.

Why use Permit.io?

Authorization decides whether the right people and services have the right access to the right resources. Every team building an application has to solve it.

Authorization is more than enforcement in code. It also covers how people work with access every day: your developers changing policy, your support team granting access, and your customers managing their own users. Permit covers all three layers, not only the enforcement building blocks:

Infrastructure

Permit lets you decouple authorization policy from application code. You get a central control plane, SDKs, APIs, and a policy decision point (PDP), the authorization microservice that runs next to your services. Your code calls the PDP at each enforcement point, and the PDP evaluates your policy.

Backoffice

The Permit UI lets everyone who manages access, including product, security, support, and sales, change authorization in your application without writing code. Policy editor permissions control who can change what.

Interfaces

Permit Elements are embeddable UI components for user management, access requests, and approvals. They let you delegate parts of access control to your end users safely.

Together, these three layers cover authorization end to end, so you don't have to build permissions again.
